From August 2 to 6, 2023, young people from around the world will gather in Lisbon, Portugal with Pope Francis to celebrate World Youth Day.

According to the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, more than 5,000 young Canadians are expected to attend the World Youth Day events in Lisbon this year, including several members of our own parish community.

The delegation from Canada includes Indigenous youth, following the historic Apostolic Visit by Pope Francis to Canada in 2022, to continue to ongoing process of healing and reconciliation between the Church and the Indigenous Peoples of this land.

World Youth Day provides the opportunity to hear from bishops and leading Catholic speakers from every continent as well as participate in prayer and liturgy. Up to two million people are expected to attend the final Mass in Lisbon with Pope Francis.
