In 2022, the 75th Anniversary of the 1947 Marian Congress is being celebrated. The Marian Devotional Movement is spearheading an initiative that will see 3 replica statues of Our Lady of the Cape travel to multiple cities across Canada, including a visit at St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica on May 19, 2022.
Historical background: The Our Lady the Cape pilgrim statue was processed to Ottawa from Cap-de-la-Madeleine in advance of the 1947 Marian Congress. This effort was modeled after the Our Lady of the Grand Return in France whereby four replica statues were processed throughout France during WWII.
The efforts to organize this initiative have already begun with prayer through the Canada54 National Novena. The Ontario Knights of Columbus are co-sponsoring the Ontario/Quebec tour.
Please join us at the Cathedral on Thursday, May 19 to welcome the Statue of Our Lady of the Cape:
10:45 AM – Arrival and Installation of Our Lady of the Cape Pilgrim statue
11:00 AM – Veneration of Our Lady of the Cape
11:45 AM – Holy Rosary
12:10 PM – Holy Mass – celebrant: Fr. Frank Portelli

During this Month of Mary, and particularly during these difficult times, we entrust our intentions to the intercession of Our Blessed Mother.
